In 3 weeks it's Columbus Day every years the second Monday of October it's the arrival of Christopher Columbus in America in 1492.

It's a federal holidays but not very were.

In Hawaii they celebrate discoverers' day the Polynesian discover who discover Hawaii

In South Dakota they don't celebrate Columbus Day because they Celebrate native Americans' day since 1990.

The city of Berkeley not far of san Fransisco celebrate indigenous people's day 1992 ?

The State of California celebrate the 4th Friday of September the indigenous people's day

It's controversial in the Usa

The story starts in 1492…

The star-spangled banner is the name of the American flag and the name of a national anthem (hymne), was written by Francis Scott key during the war of 1812 with great-bretain.

The first years was hard but they survived thanks to the local Indian, they celebrating in November 1621 thanksgiving, to thanks to god because they survived.

Royal colonies they were govern by the king or the representative …. and proprietary colonies usually govern by a prominent English noble or by a company for instance the colony of Maryland was governed by lord the Baltimore that why the … of Maryland was named Baltimore.

The colonies rebelled and in 1707 they gathered in the stamp act congress then the British decided to … a taxe on tea and they rebelled Boston tea party in 1773 protester was deguised like native's and they threw …

As a reaction of the British sanctions in 1774 they gathered in Philadelphia to the first continental congress.

In april 1775 their was a batal between colonist and the British red coats (soldiers) and lead to the second continental congress in 1775 and they met again in Philadelphia.
