ACKNOLEDGEMENTS

First at all, I would like to thank ESSCA school for having allowed me to live an experience abroad and to give me the tools to help me in the internship’s researches. I especially wanted to thank Mrs LATOUR Céline for helping and advising me throughout the duration of my internship.

Then, I would like to thank Mane, my training tutor for her understanding.

Many thanks to all my colleagues in the sales team and for the discovering of the island thanks to them too.

I’m so thankful to my boyfriend, Arnaud who came with me during all the internship to cheer me.

Finally, I would like to thank my entourage to be always there for me even if it can be difficult sometimes to be so far from them.

INTRODUCTION

Since a long time, I didn’t take the airplane to go outside of France even if I did several travels before especially in Africa.

So, when I arrived at ESSCA school in August 2017 and learnt about the abroad semester it was just a real pleasure for me.

At the beginning, I was interested to go in Northern European Countries, but after some researches, I understood that it was complicated to do an internship in this part of the world.

That’s why I turn my way on countries with good opportunities and where I can speak English all day long. At first, I checked the offers in England but because of the high cost of life I gave up this idea. Few days later, thanks to several Facebook groups, I saw that a big company in Malta recruited trainees for its marketing service. I applied to this offer and after a skype with a human resources assistant, I was hired.

This internship was remunerated 100€ per month and 20€ per sale too.

I had already heard about Malta island, but it was so vague in my mind, that’s why this internship was a real opportunity to discover this small and beautiful island which the capital was the European Capital of culture.

Unfortunately, the internship wasn’t what I expected because my only task was to call all day long thanks a phone book of different companies -which didn’t know us- to sell them electronic components that we didn’t necessarily have in our office.

That’s why I decided to change my internship after two and a half months. I found it-thanks to internet- a new offer which proposed to be commercial agent for a famous society which is also a brand: Herbalife Nutrition but it’s not the subject of my report.

The first goal of this internship was to speak English in a professional context and to be able to use it to exchange with the customers.

Secondly, this internship enabled me to apply school knowledges and use the various professional experiences that I had at this time.

Moreover, this internship allowed me to gain in autonomy and self-confidence both in a professional and a personal sense.

Part I: Presentation of the company and the mission

Chapter I: The company and its environment

  1. The company’s history, legal and organizational environment

ML Components GMBH otherwise named BD Electronic is an independent GmbH of German origin created in 2014 by Maurice and Lucia (hence the ML). Its headquarters are in the German city of Mainz.

Since 2015, it has also been active on the island of Malta in Qormi and since 2018 in the Philippines. ML Components GmbH is a global leader in supplying electronic components around the world through its extensive supplier network worldwide.

The company assists manufacturers, brokers and electronics engineers daily to get the parts they need and can’t find them through their usual channels. The company focuses primarily on passive, active and electromechanical components. However, it has the ability to find other specialty products used in the military, automotive, aerospace, medical and other industries.

  1. The corporate social responsibility of the company

Unfortunately, the corporate social responsibility was and still not a priority for ML Components. It is important to know that Maltese companies are not involved in corporate social responsibility for most of them. It’s really a shame because this Island needs it and if big companies like ML Components includes this important part of working conditions, the others would follow.

  1. The technical sheet of the company

ML Components provides active and passive electronic components, a wide variety of products through its more than 130 suppliers including Samsung, Texas Instruments or even IBM. According to the company's website, it will sell a total of 490,856 electronic components (such as Audio or USB cables, rechargeable batteries, etc.) in 30 different categories.

  • Quality:

ML components places a certain importance on the quality of its electronic components. Indeed, their quality system tests and identifies all technical errors: it determines whether it meets their quality conformity or not. This guarantees the customer to always receive high quality products. To choose the most suitable component, ML components goes through several procedures:
