What is amazon ?

In the media segment, Amazon competes with auction site eBay (EBAY); media game-changer Netflix (NFLX); Time Warner Cable (TWX); Apple (AAPL) with iTunes; Google (GOOG) with its Play Store; and media producer Liberty Interactive (QVCB).

Amazon has several competitors in the electronics and general merchandise segment, many of which are brick and mortar retailers, including Best Buy (BBY) Family Dollar, RadioShack, Staples, Target (TGT), Walmart (WMT), Sears (SHLD), Big Lots, Delia, and Systemacs. Its online competition in the electronics and general merchandise segment includes Alibaba Group, LightInTheBox Holding Co., Overstock.com, PCM, Vipshop Holdings, JD.com, Wayfair Inc. and Zulily.

In the third operating segment, Amazon competes with several of the world's largest companies including CDW, PC Connection, Insight Enterprises, Oracle, salesforce.com, Accenture and Citrix Systems, among others.

S: • Recognition of the Brand, Amazon is known for its online sales, and low prices. There is almost no need for great communication, when users are looking for a product on the web, "amazon.com" becomes practically a reflex due of the notoriety of the brand.

• The quality of the products offered but also the Customer Services and After Sales Services, contribute in the success of the group.

• A significant investment in Research and development, nearly 1.5 billion dollars in the 2nd quarter of 2015.

• communication plays on a field whose geographical area (target) is extremely extensive.

• Using superior logistics and distribution systems, the company has been able to actualize better customer fulfillment and this has resulted in Amazon deriving competitive advantage over its rivals.

W: • The presence of Amazon.com in China is still too poor, this Chinese market is very difficult to win for the US giant with many competing sites that are already well established, and at very low prices.

• The quantity of products offered by the brand today and the multiplication of

distribution sites increase the risks related to logistics.
