I will speak about the notion of myths and heroes, by studying this problem: Can there be different heroes ? A myth is a traditional and universal story which concerns the life of ordinary or extraordinary people. A myth can be true or imaginary, can explain a social or natural phenomenon or can explain nothing. It can be a popular belief (croyance populaire )or a tradition or a false notion. A hero participates in the myths. This term contains aspects of various kinds. There are a lot of heroes: the fictitious heroes (from cartoons or comics ), a fashion hero (like Michael Jackson), a humain rights defender, a sportsman, some unknown heroes (like firemen, soldiers...)... This term is complex. I’m going to study the soldiers and Nelson Mandela

Firstly, I will present what the soldiers are and what they do. Subsequently, I will speak about Nelson Mandela's life

When people think of heroes, what often (souvent)comes to their mind is some fictional character like Batman or Superman, these characters super strong, supernatural, stemming from comics , cartoons, novels or also movies...  But,heroes aren’t all fictional, there are also some more traditional heroes, closer to us, to which anyone can identify. Soldiers are the main representatives of this type. They are considered as anti-heroes, because they are common people, they are not strong as the heroes from the cartoons, or they aren’t have some supernatural powers. But, they are considered as heroes, because they realized a good and generous action, helping people who are in difficulty, defending others, powerless(impuissant), just with their capacity, and their heart. These unknown heroes protect the people, powerless, they risk their life to protect them, they do a lot of sacrifices, it’s very dangerous and they sacrifice their life or also the times with their family, for their country, their homeland(patrie).

Now i'm going to tell you the Nelson Mandela's life ,Nelson Mandela was one of the historic leaders of the fight against the blacks’ discrimination and was the first black president of South Africa. He was born in 1918 in South Africa. At this moment, this country was part of the British Empire and was ruled by the white government. This government had created a political and social system where only whites had political rights. In 1948, the right-wing National Party came to power and set up the separation between blacks and whites “legal”. This separation is called the “apartheid”. The latter (ce dernier) has became lawyer(est devenu avocat) at a time where blacks had a little access to education and he has never stopped his fight against the apartheid. He quickly became the enemy of the government, thus he spent 27 years in prison, but he never betrayed (trahi )his ideal even when the white government offered him to negotiate his freedom. Consequently, he’s an icon for generation of black South Africans.

To conclude, I would say that although a soldier and Nelson Mandela are different, they are both heroes. They both fight for justice, are brave, generous and put other people's lives before their own, saving lives in their own way. It is possible therefore to have different kinds of heroes.
