The scene takes place in the modern world, in Stratford-upon-Avon where Shakespeare is from. The city is colonized by persons from the whole world who admire and feel a strong connection to the work of the Elizabethan playwrite. It is here that two completely different characters are going to meet, Shylock and Daniel.
Shylock
Sir, I would speak with you. Whither am I?
Daniel
What did you just say? Oh, where are you? You’re in London! Are you kidding me?
Shylock
You’re? Dost thee mean thou art? Oh, London, thee hath quoth?
Daniel
Are you speaking Early Modern English? Interesting!
Shylock
Early Modern English?
Daniel
Forget it. Who are you and where are you from my friend?
Shylock
Shylock, a Venetian Jewish moneylender.
Daniel

Shylock

Daniel

Shylock
Jerks art oft ill for ev’ryone.
Daniel
Yeah, that’s true. A lot of antisemitic actions have been happening these days. Have you heard about them?
Shylock
Jerks art oft eyeless ‘r presently hated. I something think they straight scape every time. Wherefore would it befall?
Daniel
Antisemitic actions happen because of some people who are not supposed to exist.
Shylock
‘Tis sad. Wherefore don’t I know about this? ‘Tis heavy for them. Haply will we find a solution. We shall be frighted by this.
Daniel
I’m not scared. I’m proud to be a Jerk and they can’t do anything about it.
Shylock
My issues know it. I know ‘tis not ill, we art not hildings. Forbear thy mooncalf ‘r thou wilt die lief, like I quoth. Should I go now?
Daniel
