Biographie d'Allan Edgar Poe

Allan Edgar Poe was born on January 19, 1809 in Boston and died in Baltimore on October 7, 1849. He was a poet, novelist, publisher etc... Edgar Allan Poe's father and mother were both poor. In 1810, his father died of an illness and his mother in 1811, of pneumonia. Edgar also had a sister, Rosalie, born in 1810, who was mentally handicapped from the age of 12 until her death. He began simply by publishing a collection of poems in 1827, without success, followed by short stories and tales. In 1835, he became an editor for a Richmond newspaper and began to develop his own style of literary criticism. Edgar Poe is regarded as the inventor of the detective novel. His stories are often close to science-fiction and fantasy, genres that had not yet been invented.

En 1810, son père meurt d'une maladie et sa mère, en 1811, d'une pneumonie. Edgar avait également une soeur, Rosalie, née en 1810, qui fut handicapée mentale de l'âge de 12 ans jusqu'à sa mort. Il commença simplement par publier un recueil de poèmes en 1827, sans succès, suivi de nouvelles et de contes. En 1835, il devient rédacteur en chef d'un journal de Richmond et commence à développer son propre style de critique littéraire. Edgar Poe est considéré comme l'inventeur du roman policier. Ses histoires sont souvent proches de la science-fiction et du fantastique, des genres qui n'avaient pas encore été inventés.
