A) Classical music

To obey orders and to earn money:

In most cases, the compositors didnt decide to write a piece of music by their own will. They must obey orders from employer. Nowadays, we tend to think that musical were completely free to compose what they wanted. But that is false. If they wanted to earn money, they had to respect the orders from a powerful person. For example: At the beginning of his career, Mozart was under the control of the archbishop Colloredo, an employer who was really strict and who told Mozart to write sacred music.

Haydn had to face financial difficulties at the beginning of his career. He sought help from the Eszterházy family, and he signed a contract with this Nobel Hungarian family. By this contract, he engaged himself to compose only for the prince and for nobody else. So that, when the prince wanted to hear a new piece of music, Haydn were obliged to obey him rapidly.

It proves again that the compositors werent free, contrary to the rappers nowadays.
