Final Task Door 6 :

Prepare your road trip instructions

It's been a long time since I left on a trip ...

So I decided to leave but it remains to find the destination.

I thought of Italy but I have been there in 2018, then I thought of Spain but I have been there twice. I then said to myself "Why not leave Europe? ". I made my decision, direction: the United States.

So I made inquiries to find out what I would do

there and looking I found this site https://www.historic66.com and I fell in love with Route 66.

I learned about Route 66 and here is what I found: Route 66 is nicknamed "The America's Main Street". The idea of Route 66 was born in Oklahoma.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, America was traversed by a set of disorganized roads and poor quality, built for wagons. In the 1920s, federal authorities wanted to connect national highways to provide a shorter and faster route throughout the country. Route 66 of the United States was created on November 11, 1926, one of the first federal highways, crossing 8 states: Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California. It is 2,448 miles long and crosses three time zones. The westward expansion, commonly referred to as the American frontier, has become a symbol of America and its values of optimism, individualism and autonomy: it is an icon that keeps the national myth alive . It is therefore still important today because it is an experience of a lifetime and, while driving on this road, you feel a sense of freedom.

So I will prepare my daily planning for my hollidays on Route 66 in the United States from August 15 to 25, 2019, from Chicago to Oklahoma City.

  • Transportation :
  • I will first take the train from Poitiers to Paris, Gare Montparnasse (60 €).
  • Then I will take a taxi to go from Gare Montparnasse to Paris Orly airport (about 70 € in case of traffic jams).
  • After I fly with American Airlines for a Paris-Chicago trip (450 €)
  • And finally, I would take the bus to my hotel in Downers grove ($ 2.25 - $ 2.02)
  • Total transport: € 582.02 x2 for return + plane € 100 to go from Oklahoma City to Chicago
  • 1264.04 €
  • Accommodation :
  • On arrival I will sleep in a hotel: Red Roof Inn Chicago Downers Grove only 32.8 km from Route 66 (43 €)
  • I will take a forfeit rental of motorcycle + hotel thanks to the website eaglerider.com at 210 $ per day is 1885,8 € for 10 days (dinner and breakfast included)
  • Meals :
  • Lunch: about 15 € per day or 150 € for the stay.
  • Total trip:

3342.84 €

During this trip, I will cross Illinois, Missouri and Oklahoma. Throughout the road, I will see "Muffler Men" who are giants planted in front of the shops.
