The Landlady (Kiss,Kiss by Roals Dahl)

My Opinion about my extract:

I didn't like the final part (the end) of this short story because it's beyond understanding,we can't understand the punch line, and it's a pitty because I liked the beginning and the plot,I wanted something really suprising and bigger,so i'm really dissapointed.

But in an other way,I've liked the creepy side of the end,it's seems a little bit scary and attractive because you wants to see more,to know if the woman is preparing something in the rest, like killing the guy or something else.So my opinion is very divided because of that.

The author,Roal Dahl:

Roald Dahlwas a British novelist, writer of short stories and a screen writer also known as one of the greatest storytellers for children, he was in the list of ‘The 50 greatest British writers since 1945’. . He was born in Llanduff, South Wales, of Norwegian parents, in 13th September 1916 and educated in English boarding-schools . Before writing he also served in the  Royal Air Force and fought in the World War two as a fighter pilot, receiving terrible injuries and almost dying in a plane crash in 1942.He was married for more than 25 years to the actress Patricia Neal who died earlier in the 40's.

Dahl often said that it was this "monumental bash on the head" and a meeting with C. S. Forester (author of the famous Captain Horatio Hornblower stories)that led him becoming a writer. Initially he wrote stories about his experiences as a wartime flyer, then he started with articles for magazines such as The New Yorker. He became famous for a lot of short stories and novellas for adults, such as Tales of the Unexpected, with a dramatic twist at the end. His publishers dubbed him the Master of the Macabre. In his late 40s, he started writing stories for children. He took inspiration from his life incidence and people he met are very common in his writings,Dahl’s books involve imagination and fantasy and they were humorous too.  Many of his successful books, most notably "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," "James and the Giant Peach" and "Fantastic Mr. Fox" are now acknowledged as timeless classics of the genre. He was always brimming with new ideas and his many books continue to bring enormous enjoyment to millions of children and their parents throughout the world.

Roald Dahl died on 23rd November 1990 due to a blood disease in Oxford, England. There is a Roald Dahl Children’s Gallery opened in his honor.
