At the level of financial help to the families, we find parental insurance and the « child support ».
1)
Firstly , the parental insurance , entered into force the first january of 2006 was created to allow parents to combine work and family life.
To have this financial support , must be a parent of a child born after the first january of 2006 , live in Québec and have stopped working or seen a 40% reduction's of his regular income.
Eligible parents can choose between the basic plan and the special plan.
If they choose the basic plan they will be compensated for a longer period but the amount of the benefit will be lower. If they choose the special plan they will be compensated for a shorter period but the amount of the benefit will be better.

The amount of the « child support » varies from one family to another because it takes account of the family net income , the number of children and type of home (single-parent or not).
