First of all, my name is Ebo Anchoukaj, I was born on the September 18th, 1797 in Songea, a town in the South of Tanzania. Everything started on the October 15th, 1816 (I was then 19 years old), I was helping my father to cut wood near our House. I did little pieces of wood to start a fire. When all of a sudden, white men arrived and requested to me and my parents, in their carts under penalty of death threats. We ride without saying anything, at this time I saw my mother, Mimba in tears in the arms of my father. I didn’t really know what was going on, but I had understood that my good life was over. Then began a travel, where we first landed in a village, in the South of Africa, where we have sold like animals. I was bought, separately from my parents, by a white man who took me to some cocoa beans and cotton. And not the time to review my parents, the rest of the travel began, longer than the first, which move America according to some people who were it also bought on the market.

I was sad because I would never see my parents.

December 16th, 1816, we arrived in Salvador of Bahia, at the Brazil. I knew nothing of this place. I was completely lost... They took me in a castle, where there is a beautiful and huge Garden.

In the Castle, I was introduced to my master, Mister Prey a businessman from Washington. This was the beginning of my years of suffering under slavery my master. The feeling of solitude was well and truly this...

Under fatigue and injury, I wouldn’t be able to collected and so I had nothing to eat or very little. I slept on the floor in the cellar, I hadn’t water, food or equipment for have hot... In summary, my living conditions were poor and dreadful.

Then finally arrived this day there in 1865, when Abraham Lincoln abolished the slavery! My life was changed, the miracle had taken place, I was able to regain my freedom, I’m returning to Songea where I found a woman and then had children. Unfortunately, I've never had news of my parents.
