Otzi the iceman

It was a cold foggy night full of overthinking and doubts where decisions had to be made, in front of a campfire there was a man, and not just any man: Otzi, who we will keep calling by this name; since we don’t know what his real name was. He was a tall strong handsome man, a trustable wise chief, a brave devoted tribe leader and that’s what made him earn his position despite the jealousy and the hatred of other tribe members. Otzi spend this long night thinking about ways to prevent his tribe from starving to death during this cold crucial winter. As dawn breaks, he made a decision that not only switched his fate, but his tribe’s too. Few hours later he announced to the tribe that he was going alone for a hunt, he packed all what he needed, said goodbye to the people who trust and believe in him the most: his family and his tribe.

We cannot deny the fact that the journey was not easy for him, because clearly Otzi started to get older and some illnesses wiped out his youth, despite all of that he continued his journey with determination and excitement. After days of walking in the dark cold woods and not finding animals to hunt, he decided to take a rest, gather his ideas and continue his journey to make his people proud.

Meanwhile in the village, some traitors took the opportunity to take over the tribe, they were divided in two groups: the first one followed Otzi and the second one stayed in the village to implement the coup. Tribe members tried to stop them but it was too late and the plan wasn’t going the way traitors wanted: Everything turned into chaos: Women and kids were screaming, men were fighting and they started shooting and using their arms. After hours of fighting, a terrible silence took over the place and announced the death of the whole tribe.

When Otzi was trying to take a rest he heard some voices turned his head to check and he thought that there was animals, so he took his hunting bow in one hand and the arrow in another and got prepared to face them, but it tuned out it was only fog who made him think that way…

Few days later, our leader was exhausted and starving, he finally found his prey, unfortunately while he was getting ready to hunt it down, he felt an arrow passing by his left and luckily it missed him, as he turns his head, hands sweating, the heart beating, he wished he hasn’t seen this horrible scene: Two of his tribe members were standing behind him facing their arrows towards him. He knew that this was his end yet he didn’t give up and started to run in the opposite direction, hid behind a tree and started to shoot his enemies; who ones used to be his favorite tribe members; this confrontation took hours and Otzi had no arrows left so he started to run to another tree, before arriving to his destination, he felt a severe pain, an arrow penetrated his chest and shot him down in the cold freezing water. He took his last breath looking at the sunny cloudless sky and a smile appeared on his lips realizing how courageous he was in his last moments.
