THE FAVORITE REVIEW

The poster:

This document is a poster of the film “The Favourite”. The general look of this poster is pure, in contrary of what we could have wait for a movie about royalty, with a plain beige coulour. At the top of the poster we can notice a few elements in which stands out the title of the movie “The Favourite” written in an elegant typography. Over the title there is three famous festivals at which the movie has been nominated and, under the heading is written the movie productions names. Furthermore the three names of the main actresses are noticeable in capital letters, under their names we are able to see the film director name: Yorgos Lanthimos, and all the credits for all the other actors. Therefore we can observe the three main characters played by the three actresses: Emma Stone, Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz. In the foreground, the actress Emma stone is sitting on the ground over the Queen cape, legs spread with an upset look on her face and arm crossed, she have a rabbit between her legs. Behind her in the background, Olivia Colman and Rachel Weisz are standing and facing each other. Olivia Colman is half-turned, showing her back and half her face to us while Rachel Weisz is averting her eyes from the camera looking behind the Queen. The two standing characters are outlined by a golden frame, through which goes the Queen cape allowing Emma Stone to sit over it and resting her back on the same golden frame. In addition when we analyse the poster we notice that the three characters are in the centre or almost the centre, it draws our attention to the actresses and put forward the star power of the movie.

The Trailer:

The second document is the film trailer of “The Favorite” released on 4th September 2018 on the channel of Searchlight picture on youtube. We meet Queen Anne, played by Olivia Colman, Lady Sarah who’s the very close friend of Queen Anne played by Rachel Weisz and finally Abigail, the new servant of the Queen that seem in pretty close proximity with the Queen Anne and that closeness isn’t delighting Lady Sarah who become jealous. The plot is taking place in the early XVIII century, and Queen Anne is occupying the throne and govern the country with her strangely close friend Lady Sarah who’s trying to help the Queen ill health and her short fluctuating temper. Ultimately a new servant, Abigail arrives a get closer and closer to the Queen, while Lady Sarah takes care of the country political life. The increasing proximity of Abigail and the Queen start making Lady Sarah jealous, and this growing jealousy make Lady Sarah act differently toward the Queen and Abigail, trying to get the servant out of the palace.
