Biography

Pablo Ruiz Picasso was born in Malaga, Spain October 25, 1881 ans died April 8, 1973, in Mougins France. He is a painter a draftsman and a Spanish sculptor. Who spent most of his life in France. He is the first child of José Ruiz Blasco then professor of painting at the Provincial School o Arts crafts in the city called ‘’san telmo’’ ans Maria Picasso Lopez. Pablo had two sisters, but no brother. Picasso father is encouraged him and gave him confidence. He favorite being ‘’ the little Yellow Ricador’’ his first oil painting, which he always refused to part buring the winter 1895 he painted his first major academic Painting ‘’First Communion’’. The Following year he entered the school of Fine Arts in Barcelona.

Style of Artist

The blue period: corresponds to the years 1901-1904. This name comes from the fact that blue is the dominant color of his paintings. This period which began with the suicide of his Catalan friend Carlos Casagemas. Was marked by melancholy . The themes of death, old age, and poverty were also ……………… however, it didn’t him from being a satirist. The first picture in this period was: the death of casagemas. Important works are: Dama in Eden Concert 1903. La vida 1903.

The Rose Period: By 1905, Picasso had largely overcome the depression that had previously debilitated him. Not only was he madly in love with a beautiful model, Fernande Olivier, he was newly prosperous thanks to the generous patronage of art dealer Ambroise Vollard. The artistic manifestation of Picasso's improved spirits was the introduction of warmer colors—including beiges, pinks and reds—in what is known as his "Rose Period" (1904-06). His most famous paintings from these years include "Family at Saltimbanques" (1905), "Gertrude Stein" (1905-06) and "Two Nudes" (1906).

African-influenced Period : Picasso's African-influenced Period (1907–1909) begins with the two figures on the right in his painting, Les Demoiselles d'Avignon, which were inspired by African artefacts. Formal ideas developed during this period lead directly into the Cubist period that follows.

Cubism: In 1907, Pablo Picasso produced a painting unlike anything he or anyone else had ever painted before, a work that would profoundly influence the direction of art in the 20th century: "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon," a chilling depiction of five nude prostitutes, abstracted and distorted with sharp geometric features and stark blotches of blues, greens and grays. Today, "Les Demoiselles d'Avignon" is considered the precursor and inspiration of Cubism, an artistic style pioneered by Picasso and his friend and fellow painter, Georges Braque.
