RAY CHARLES : Biography

Ray Charles was an American singer and pianist of jazz, country, rhythm and blues. Ray Charles also called "The Genius" created the soul. He was born the 23 September 1930, in a very poor family in Albany, Georgia. He was raised by his mother in Greenville, Florida.

He had a difficult childhood, he saw his brother drowned and he developed an illness that made him blind at the age of 7 years. He had to be placed in a specialized establishment. It's in this school for nine years, he will learn the composition and to play piano and alto saxophone.

At the age of fifteen, he lost his mother and decides to leave the institution. In 1947, after crossing the country to move to Seattle, he began singing in clubs. During many years, he recorded a lot of songs. They were all successful. He was married two times and had 12 children.

He died the 10 June 2004, at the age of 73 years, because of a liver disease.
