School

The school about I’m going to speak is named Lycée Charles de Gaulle. It’s a French public school, which is located in London, at the 35 Cromwell Road
SW7 2DG.

The Charles de Gaulle School was built in 1915 in the London’s center by Marie Jeanne d’Orliac, a French woman during the First World War. This high school is well-kept and the students are respectful. 

The school has 5 buildings but pupils use only 4 of them. There are a headmaster Olivier Rauch, an administrator, a deputy and 6 supervisors. Here you can find a doctor, a nurse, a social worker and a careers advisor. There are 100 teachers and every class has got 1 head teacher. The high school regroup 1500 pupils. 75 per cent of students are French, 13 per cent are English and 12 per cent are different nationalities.  
There are 9 class of year 11, 11 class of year 12 and 11 class of year 13. It proposes to do the British Section, a section for British pupils who wants to learn French.

The school year is from September the 2nd to June the 25th with 3 terms, 3 reports and 3 staff meetings in a year. There is no school on Saturday afternoon, Sunday and when it’s a celebration day. There is 2 breaks at 9h55Am and at 3h25Pm. At the end of the year, there are the written exams in French, History, Science, English… and oral exams in English and French. 

The school offers different activities:

-Help in an association: a lot of school trips are organized during the years. The destination is often South of Africa, India and Brasilia.

-Choral society: at the end of the years, we organize a concert.

-Sport activities: football, basketball, handball. There is one competition a month for every sport.
