Martin Luther King

Introduction :

Martin luther king was born 15 january 1929 in Atlanta. He is a pastor afro américan.

He's married Coretta Scot King and have four children.

MLK is a activist non violent for the black Civils Rights movement in United States

He died murdered 4 April 1968 in Memphis.

Part 1 :

Martin Luther King began his non violent fight against segregation when Rosa Park was arrested by the police men of Mongtomery. Because she didn't give up her seat to a white guy. It is the trigerring element that made MLK start his campaign of boycott inspired by Gandhy.

The personalities of Montgomery have launched a call for the boycott against  the bus compagny.

For the boycott, he created an association and MLK became leader of the association. The boycott lasted from december fifht 1955 to december  twenty first 1956 almost 1 year. Despite attempts to intimidate led by  white supremacist people  on MLK. The supreme court decided to stop the ségrégation on buses.

The boycott was the major starting element in the struggle for the Civil Rights.

 

Subsequently, he decided to expend his pacific movement all over the country. He multiplies the actions with pacific movement for the civil right with students protest movement in 1960, the campaign in Birmimgham in 1963, etc. During those  5 years,  he went to in prison, he was beaten up by the police  but he received the assistance of  people famous like the président of Kennedy.

On 28 august 1963, MLK at the head of the walking in  Washington for  freedom and  work. In front of 250 000 people,  He pronounces his famous speech I Have Dream. He calls on the United States to share the same rights in justice and peace.

And in 1964, he received the Nobel Peace Prize for his not violent fight for the civil rights.

Part 2 :

Malcom X and Martin Luther King had two very different strategies but for the same purpose:

To stop segregation for blacks.

Martin Luther King inspired by Gandhi. He militated in a non violent movement by the boycott, negociations with the government to obtain the civil rights for blacks.

Contrary to Malcom X who was sent to prison for very serious offences. After the jail, he converted to  Islam and became spokesman of the " Nation of Islam ".

He opposed the movement of MLK because it was not violent. And it is ideas were the opposite of MLK.

He gave speeches of  against the whites. This his speeches caused(provoked)  violence between the blacks and the whites.

Conclusion :

In my opinion, Martin Luther King had the good method to defend(forbid) the civil rights of the blacks. Because he had results(profits) very fast with the company of Montgomery's buses.

While Malcom X encouraged the blacks to rebelled with  violence.
