Do we live in a stress world?

First of all, let me tell you my own little story. When I started school at six years old, I got really scared. I was so afraid to walk towards that big building to people I don’t know and an unknown environment. It’s not something uncommon to be afraid of putting a foot in a school, as I learned by an article named “school avoidance” written by healthychildren.org on November 21 two thousand fifteen. The author mention that as many as five percent of children do what we call school avoidance or school phobia. It’s at a very young age that I discovered what stress was and it wasn’t the last time.

We are living stress for a lot of reasons in our daily life. It can be for an exam the next day, a car accident that just happened or as simple as go to the mall to find a perfect gift for a baby party but I think something changed in our modern life. People are feeling more stress about everything. According to Allan Schwartz that wrote an article named “Anxiety, worry and stress, oh my! The bugaboos of modern life” on May 17 2016, anxiety, worry and stress are all afflictions of life in our modern world and that approximately 10 percent of the American population, or 24 million people, suffer from anxiety disorders. It can interfere in our life and stop people from doing activities, accepting more responsibilities in their job and much more. In second hand, stress and anxiety can have a lot of side effects on the body and can even make you sick. From the same article of Allan Schwarz, he wrote a list of symptoms that can occur. Muscle tension, sweaty hands, physical weakness, poor memory and upset stomach are some of those symptoms. I felt those symptoms myself when I had bad periods of anxiety, therefore I can relate to it.  It’s never fun to feel this way.

Finally, nowadays it’s common to give some medication to control this stress and anxiety. There’s also alternative ways such as yoga or organic medication plants that can help to relax! Hopefully, I will find the one that work for me!
