Internet trends

Focus: trolling

 Rationale

The aim of my assignment is to prevent against trolling and to give my opinion on the subject. Since my aim is to prevent and share my opinion on trolling, I choose to write an online article. Articles are effective because you can attract a larger audience, they appear as more authoritative than other texts types. My target audience is teenagers and parents because they are the most concern about this trend. I intend to advocate parents about trolling because this trend only touches the new generation, parents need to be alerts, so that they can help their child if they are trolled on the internet. Trolls can mentally hurt their victims and this led to self-physical harm.

I have acquired my sources on the internet, I read two articles related to my subject, the first article explains the case on a woman who receive rape threatening by trolls, the second articles dealt with R.I.P trolling.my article will be written in formal language, arranged in well-designed formal of an online article

Trolling a new trend on Twitter

By Christelle Yabo

Bullying became a trend. According to the urban dictionary, trolling is “the act of making unsolicited comments on internet forums with the intent to provoke an emotional reaction to engage in a fight or argument». Trolling is bullying a person to engage a fight or an argument. We can deduce that there is no purpose in trolling because it is useless except to hurt people. trolls aren’t confident people, they use people feel existent. A woman called Stella Creasey, was trolled on twitter and received rape-threatening. She sues him and the case went on trial.

Since they have been on the internet, trolls have done a lot of damage, they attract our attention even if they shouldn’t because I’m convinced that if no one pray attention to them, they’ll be less trolls. Laws have been created to be tough on trolls, so that they cannot get away with their crime. It seems that those laws aren’t efficient because there are not many cases where trolls went in jail for their delinquency. In 2011 Carole Gelder found her fourteen-year-old daughter dead in her bedroom, on her computer screen her mother saw a rip page made for her daughter before her death. This show how internet can ruin a life. Social media were initially created to bring people closer and share our lives but now it’s the opposite, people use it to harass and scare others. The question is, whose fault is it? We can’t blame social media but it’s true that they have some improvements to make on the security and confidentiality, but they can’t take all the blame when the main trigger is the people. the trolling trend is definitely because of trolls. The argument that they have is that trolling is just r freedom of speech. Any person with the lowest ethical values would disagree, yes freedom of speech is a right but it stops when you hurt people’s feelings with your words.

Trolling is the negative impact of social media especially on twitter, cases have been recorded where trolls posted offensive pictures of victims or worse, troll a R.I.P page. Everyone needs to be concerned about this new danger on the internet, we can make action to stop this. Social media should pay attention to feedbacks and take care of the confidentiality and authorities need to enforce the laws so that trolls can’t get away with their crime.
