Oral comprehension: Climate refugees

What is it?

 It is a documentary entitled “The Human Face of Climate Change”, directed by Michael Nash.

What is it about?

It is about climate change and its consequences on people and places.

What are the problems?

Natural disasters (storms, hurricanes, floods, fires, tsunamis, earthquakes, sea level rise) are threat multipliers for populations. Climate change presses areas that are already stressed causing social unrest, and thus leading to more people moving around the world.

Which notion does it illustrate? Spaces and exchange

Why? Explain.

What is a “climate refugee”?

Refugee: a person who seeks refuge.

The Global Governance Project defines “ Climate refugees

“ as people who have to leave their habitats because of sudden or gradual alteration in their natural environment  related to at least three impacts of climate change: sea-level rise, extreme weather events, and drought and water scarcity.
