ORAL D'ANGLAIS :

INTRODUCTION :

I am going to talk about the idea of progress

-First of all I would like to give a definition of this notion:  The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change – a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place.

For me progress is any more and positive evolution.

I would like to illustrate this notion using the theme of wind of change for women.

-Let me explain the reason why I have chosen this theme to speak about the progress.

-So we can ask ourselves, if today the status of women has changed compared the past.

First, we will see there role in the fifties (50), and the second time, we will talk about there role today.

- Firstly, we can say that women, at that time, do not have a lot of rights, compared to men, as for example in 1928, women have the right to vote.

married woman was very different from today's wife. in the years 50 and 60, women were good at staying home to raise children, and caring for household chores from home. men, therefore were considered the head of the House, the one who had the money, the power over the woman.

In the sixties, feminism began to become a more influential ideology as more jobs became available to young women.

several rights appeared, such as the contraceptive pill in 1961, or the abortion Act equalized it in the United Kingdom in 1967.

the women liberty movement was in its infancy when in 1968 at a ford factory in dagenham, 850 women went on strike , arguing for equal pay with their male co-workers.

as I was able to see in a document studied in class “www.historic-uk.com” the status of women evolved progressively, with more liberty, like the rights of 1994 women right to maternity leave for all, and 2003, pay gap 19% between men and women.

as we have said, women have more freedom, even if that is not enough

-finally, we can say than women conditions evolved, new rights for women were created. There was solidarity between women. The médical condition was better and improved. Women fight again sex discrimination.

There are still several women who are subjected to harassment and violence, they are still victims.

equality man, woman, in work, is not reinstated, pregnant women are not totally accepted at work as this breaks financial problems for the Director.

but women still persists today at this fight against equality man, woman, but it takes time

We can conclude, saying that, the life of the woman in the years 50 and 60 to enormously evolved, thanks to different rights acquired by women, today women are less and less discriminated against by men and one much more freedom , despite that some inequalities are still present, but the women are welded and this beat against it
