IMMIGRATION TO THE US AND AMERICAN DREAM

The immigration and the American dream are 2 subjects which are alike, indeed, in both cases, the question of a better life is present, we are going to study these two terms.

Immigration : What dose it mean ?

Immigration is the process of entering another country in order to live and work there.

Generally, the immigrants come to have a new life, they avoid the poverty of their country to go in a "richer" country or to escape a political system.

What is the American Dream ?

The American dream is the notion that the American society can bring a better quality of life whether it is socially or economically. People who want to immigrate, would like to find a job, to earn money or have a big house so to start anew, a better or happier life. They must have hope because it's the land of all opportunities.

People want to migrate for many different reasons which are economical, social, political or environmental.

First, they want to move somewhere for a better quality of life or to be closer to family and friends, to escape political persecution or war, to find work or follow a career path or still to escape diseases. A lot of people criticize the idea of dream because for them it's very difficult to be able to fulfill their dreams.

Ellis Island opened its doors on January, the first of 1892. Most of the immigrants who passed by Ellis Island were European and a minority were arab. Those who passed there had a single idea in head, have a new life, never again a life of debauchery but an sweeter life. They wanted to have a job and the best for their family. As it is the case of Vito Corleone, a young boy who arrived on this island alone. He has sudden medical examinations before being placed in a chamber isolated as most of people

The immigration to the US is sometimes more difficult like for the Mexican immigrants. Millions Mexican want to enter the USA but the road is very difficult, conditions to cross are very hard, a lot of part of them needs the smugglers to pass, those can make them cross the border, but asks a colossal sum of money. The police use force to prevent them from passing the border, it's Migra, the US border patrol. In the document with Manuela and Candido Guzman, two immigrants, have decided to migrate illegally to the USA thanks to smuggler but he was abandonned by the man. So just with his will power and without water  nor food, he crossed Rio Grande and the desert where he lost his sister.

When the immigrants arrived to the US, everything can be achieve, they are ready to do all jobs they find even-if they are low paid. They just want to bring happiness to them and their family.

We can say that the determination and the courage of the immigrants are admirable because they are ready for everything to have a new life even-if the reality is quite different...
