Ladies and gentlemen. I need not pause to say how very delighted and honored I am to be with you today. I would like to use as a subject from which to speak today, the American Dream.

“It’s not about changing who you are, it’s à new chapter to your journey as an american citizen” This quote from Barack Obama summarizes vers well the situation of immigrants in the USA.

Well, I’m going to tell you my story, my husband came in 2009 from Iraq. He was 20 years old then. Now, he is 25 and pretty soon will become à citizen. He doesn’t have any family or any kind of support. But, he has à lot of experience in sales and customer service. He is working full time and going to school part time. He deserves his place among the American citizens.

Role of immigrants for the USA

immigration provides several economic benefits to the united states. Many immigrants work in law-paying jobs that most americans are not willing to work. This provides cheap labor for many industries and keeps the American economy functioning.

Greater cultural diversity

Immigrants come to the united states from all over the world. Racial, cultural, and ethnic diversity expose American citizens to new ideas and new ways of life.

Role of the country for the immigrants

Education :

Assuming that 49% of immigrants do not speak English, English classes are offered in municipal libraries. Different courses to start a business, manage accounts or to learn how to get a microcredit are also offered to those who dream of getting started.

However, never forget that American citizen are and have always been à nation of immigrants, and à nation that welcomes those fleeing persecution, in addition to underscoring that immigrants and refugees make us stronger.

The US is the great nation that it is today because of its sustainable, forward looking, and compassionate stance on immigration. Continuation of this legacy will ensure that US values, prosperity and global leadership will endure well into the future.
