2. Read all the different information to be able to answer the questions.

3. Go to the Ecole Directe website or the Drive and get the online version of this worksheet. Complete it and send it by mail at mrs.treal@outlook.fr by Sunday, May 3rd, 6pm.

4. Print a copy or bring this worksheet completed to class on Tuesday, May 5th.

Part A. Learn the basics

1. Why is the Earth getting warmer? Who is responsible? Be specific and use your own words.

The Earth is getting warmer beacause pople are adding heat. Trapping gases too the atmosphre by burning fossil fuels.

2. Explain the difference between climate and weather using your own words.

Weather is an event which happens over a short period whereas climate happens over a long period .

3. What is the other name given to heat-trapping gases?

4. What would happen without the greenhouse effect?

The earth would be very cold because greehouse grases keep the earth warm

5. Which energy was the most important source of greenhouse gas emissions in the USA in 2012?

        □ we all need to act as one to solve the problem

        □ under-developed countries need help reducing their emissions

7. List the signs of climate change.

Rain patterns are changing, sea level is rising, snow and ice are melting sooner in the spring, global temperatures are rising

8. What is a glacier? Explain in your own words what is happening to them (30 words).

A glacier is a mountain of ice. Glacier are melting because of rising temperatures and change into water

9. What is the effect of changing rain and snow patterns on water supplies and people's leisure activities (= recreational activities)?

Many parts of the world have less and less water and droughts affect the amount of water in lakes, rivers and streams. Because of warmer temperatures, there is less snow for skiing, ice-fishing and winter activitie.

10. Describe the effects of global warming on people's health using your own words (30-40 words).
