In the north of the United Kingdom, in Scotland, Edinburgh.

✶ A place with more than 1 million visitors per year!

✶ It’s Scotland’s most visited tourist attraction!

✶ Its’ one of the oldest fortified squares in Europe !

For a bit of culture… A  famous Character  of the Castle:

Hippolyte Blanc was a French architect, born in 1844 and died in 1917. He was a very respected architect in Scotland! He restored the Great Hall, and built the Argyle Tower, some of the important elements of the castle. H. Blanc has somehow protected the castle, especially the room he restored, because the army wanted to transform the Great Hall into an armory. The architect refused to give it, which will make it possible to preserve the room until today.

This castle?

The Edimburgh castle is very old! The construction began as early as the  13th century!  It was a royal and a military unit. This castle was there during the invasion of Scotland by King Edward I. It was degraded and restored several times, because of the battles, and was occupied by multiple Britain Kings, before being able to return definitely to the Scots.

For his description, the castle has an area of 35 737 m2! With a lot of things to visits, of course. It is located on the top of a cliff, the Castle Rock. It is a large fortress, consisting mainly of stones, slate, etc…

Be careful, Some say that the castle is inhabited by...ghosts! At your own risk...

Precious objects and big events…

You, dear future visitor, can find and Contemplate some precious objects, like…

✶ The Honours of Scotland, composed of a beautiful crown, a sword and a specter: All the elements form a Christian ancient collection, and they were used for the coronation of Scottish monarchs.

Or some events! Like…

✶ The One O’Clock Gun: Every day, except Sundays, a special event takes place at thirteen o’clock precisely, in the castle. This event brings a lot of visitors every time (so, come to see it? 🙂) to observe this tradition, since 1950. The principle is that the General of Artillery fires a cannon shot, to perpetuate the tradition.
