Biography:

Adele Laurie Blue Adkins, born on 5 May 1988 in London borough, is a British singer-songwriter.

Adèle was born in London and raised mainly by her mother, after her parents divorced when she was just two years old. She started singing at the age of four and developed a passion for music, encouraged by her mother who bought her a toy guitar in a charity shop. After graduating from the BRIT School of Arts in 2006, Adele signed a recording contract with XL Recordings. Her debut album, 19, was released in 2008 and included the top five UK singles "Chasing Pavements" and "Make You Feel My Love".

What's more, in February 2016 Adele won 4 Brit Awards for Best British Single, Best British Solo Artist, Best Global Hit and Best British Album for 25. Adele was even congratulated from the ISS by British astronaut Tim Peake.

As well as her musical impact, Adele has also been a pioneer in terms of body positivity and self-acceptance

Adele was interviewed about "body positivity". Why does she defend this cause?

The Rolling in the Deep performer talks about her weight loss at the presenter's request. "I'm not surprised, because my body has been objectified throughout my career. I'm either too fat or too thin. Either I'm sexy or I'm not," laments Adèle, who says she has lost 45kg. The singer insists that she is always body positive and responds to the critics: "It's not my job to manage the relationship people have with their own bodies", before adding: "I feel sorry if my weight loss has made some people feel bad about their bodies. But it's not my job to deal with that. I'm already trying to manage my own life. I can't add another worry to myself".

Who invented body positivity?

Body Positive is a movement created in 1996 by the association... The Body Positive. Behind it are two Americans: Connie Sobczak and Elizabeth Scott. Their primary aim was to tell society that round bodies are acceptable.

WHY WE CHOSE ADELE :

We chose the singer Adèle because we've listened to her since the start of her career. But also because of her strength and tenacity, which she put into action with her weight loss and her fight with body positivity. Adèle has received a lot of hate and that touched us.
