Kaitlin Armstrong is a 34-year-old yoga teacher from Texas. In May 2022, she was accused of killing a professional cyclist named Anna Moriah Wilson. Wilson was a strong athlete and very well known in her sport. The police said that Armstrong was jealous because Wilson had a past relationship with Armstrong’s boyfriend, Colin Strickland. This made Armstrong very angry and upset.
After the murder, Armstrong ran away from the United States. First, she went to the East Coast, then to Costa Rica. She stayed there for 43 days, trying to hide from the police. During this time, she did many things to look different and avoid being recognized.
In Costa Rica, she used many different fake names like “Liz,” “Beth,” and “Ari Martin.” She stayed at a small hotel and continued to do yoga, like in her old life. It seemed like she was trying to live a normal life again, but with a different identity.
Armstrong cut her red hair and dyed it dark brown. She also had plastic surgery on her nose. The surgery cost $6,350. People at the place where she stayed noticed that her face was bruised and her nose was bandaged. She told them it was from a surfing accident, but this was not true. It was from her cosmetic surgery. She used this operation to change her appearance and try to become a new person.
But the police didn’t give up. They made a fake advertisement for a yoga teacher. When Armstrong answered the ad, the police found her and arrested her. She was sent back to the United States.
In court, Armstrong was found guilty of first-degree murder. She was sentenced to 90 years in prison. She also has to pay $15 million to the family of Moriah Wilson.
My Opinion:
I think Kaitlin Armstrong did something very wrong. She tried to change her name, her face, and her whole life to escape justice. But in the end, the truth came out, and
she was caught. I believe that people who do bad things should take responsibility. The changes were not extreme but clearly Changing your appearance doesn’t change what you did. I think justice was done, and her punishment was fair.
