Good morning, today I would like to introduce the character I’ve chosen. First and foremost, this is a character I really like, from a show called Outer Banks, which premiered in 2020. The series is full of adventure, action, love, and above all, friendship. My chosen character is JJ Maybank, played by Rudy Pankow, who is 26 years old today. In Outer Banks, JJ is 16 years old in the first season, born in 2003. His full name is Jackson Maybank, and he is part of a group known as the Pogues. These are people from the poorer part of the island, in the southeastern area. His friends are John B. Routledge, Sarah Cameron, Kiara Carrera, Pope Heyward, and Cleo. They often say "P4L" (Pogues for life), which shows how much their friendship means to them and how they’re all ready to sacrifice their lives for one another.

JJ is hot-headed, brave, and loyal, but he’s also always ready to laugh and go on adventures, while looking out for and protecting his friends. He’s the son of Chandler and Larissa Groff. When JJ was a baby, he almost drowned with his mother. However, Luke Maybank adopted him and made him believe that his mother was one of his casual girlfriends. Luke raised JJ as his own for many years.

During their final mission, which was to find a "blue crown" that grants a wish to its wearer, JJ's biological father, Chandler Groff, showed up with a knife and threatened JJ's girlfriend Kiara to get the crown. When JJ handed it over, Chandler revealed that he was a selfish and terrible father. He admitted that he was the one who killed JJ’s mother, Larissa, who was supposedly drowned, by hitting her on the head. He also tried to kill JJ on a boat, leaving him for dead in the water. As JJ shared all of this with him, Chandler apologized and then stabbed him in the vital organs. Kiara, who was with him, urged him to stay strong and told him everything would be okay. In that moment, JJ told her he loved her, asked her to take care of the others, and died in her arms.

Their mission ended, and the group of Pogues lost someone they loved. They loved drinking beer, laughing together, and setting off on new adventures by boat. I chose this character because he represents many things I value, especially his sense of friendship. He is always ready to sacrifice everything for his friends, even his life, and he’s always there to protect them.
