Conclusion with Amanda seales poem

Mrs Kpodar, fellow classmates, good morning. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share with all of you this morning; a cause which is very dear to my heart. So ,I had a recent talk with my mum about black women’s representation in movies and It turned out that black women remain underrepresented in leading roles. So, after many researches, I found out that cinema isn’t the only field in which black women aren’t represented as they should be .In 2017, Black women made up a smaller percentage of women precisely 11,4 % , employed in management, business and financial occupations than white or Asian women who reached a percentage above 15%. And I asked myself so, In addition to standing up for equal job opportunities with men, we, black women also have to deal with the other women? But what was the most striking in that study was the fact that black women actually aim high but emotional tax can be a barrier to success. In fact ,black women experience  heightened awareness of their difference in the workplace which can affect their abilities to became an asset in there .And despite all those negative factors, there are black women who rock .And it’s for that very reason that I’m asking you to stand alongside the movement : BLACK GIRL MAGIC . A concept and movement that was popularized by CaShawn Thompson in 2013. It stands up for the celebration of the beauty, the power and the resilience of black wome , and furthermore to congratulate black women on their accomplishments. It has been inspired by all those black women out there around the world persevering despite adversity .The most known of those sheroes is Oprah Winfrey but there is other strong black women like Angela Basset or the representation of black excellence ?the first black flotus.Maya Angelou once said :  “Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.” And Rupi Kaur,my favorite poetress joined that idea         by saying that how you love yourself is how you teach others to love you .So,I’m calling out all the black girls here : teach others how to love you.Don’t allow them to threaten your physical or mental integrity .Don’t let them make any comments about your skin wheter you are light-skin or black skin, your hair relaxed or not and your body curvy or not; because we are all born so beautiful and the greatest tragedy is being convinced we are not.I am going to finish by reading you an Amanda Seales’s poem entitled black girl magic :

How sweet the sound
Of a black girl’s point of a view
Knowing that nobody does it like we do, boo
Pride in our power
Strength in our strides
You can attempt to imitate
But soul you cannot buy.
