Roman

Plan :

  1. Presentation
  2. How It works?
  1. Photovoltaic systems
  2. Thermal system
  3. The storage of energy
  1. Comparison with other green energies

Hello everyone
Today I will present you the solar pannel

Solar energy can be our only hope to be able to produce electricity on the long term.

  1. PRESENTATION

-Photovoltaic technology was discovered by Antoine Becquerel in 1839 during observations on the electrical behavior of electrons in a liquid.
- The first patent was deposited in 1913 by William Coblence

-Three years later Robert Millikan is the first to obtain electricity with a photovoltaic panel
- after long research it is only in 1995 that the first photovoltaic panels were marketed

the advantages of the solar panel:

- allows to bring electricity anywhere

🡪for example in the middle of the woods where there is no electrical network

- it is a renewable energy

  1. HOW IT WORKS?
  1. So first how works the photovoltaic systems

The individual cell, which is the basic unit of a photovoltaic system, products only a tiny electric power, typically of 1 to 3 W with a tension of less than one volt. To produce more power, the cells are connected to form a module. Connecting them in series of several cells increases the resulting tension for a given current, while the setting in parallel increases the current for a given tension.

  1. How works the thermal system

Cold water is sent into the panel with a pump, the sun heats the water thanks to the greenhouse effect inside the panel. The hot water is then sent to an exchanger which recovers the calories from the hot water.

  1. The storage of energy

-For electric energy we use a special battery which stores energy for the night or the days when there is not much sun

- To store solar thermal energy you have to use an expensive chemical process.

- Therefore, it is better to use it directly for heating the home, hot water or heating a swimming pool for example.

  1. COMPARISON

- Photovoltaic energy is the most used green energy after wind turbines in France because of their low profitability (14%)

- Today it is not yet possible to replace nuclear power because it would require 5000 km²(squarekilometers) of solar panels which represents a little less than the surface of the meurthe et moselle
