Snoop Dogg (born Cordozar Calvin Broadus October 20, 1971) is an American rapper, record producer and actor. Snoop is best known as an MC in the West Coast hip hop scene, and for being one of Dr. Dre's most notable protégés. Snoop Dogg was a Crip gang member while in high school. Shortly after graduation, he was arrested for cocaine possession and sentenced to three years in prison. His music career began in 1992 after his release when he was discovered by Dr. Dre. He collaborated on several tracks on Dre's solo debut, “The Chronic” and on the titular theme song to the film “Deep Cover. “

Snoop's debut album, “Doggystyle,” was released in 1993 under Death Row Records. “Doggystyle” went quadruple platinum and spawned several hit singles, including “What's My Name” and “Gin & Juice.”

His second album, 1996's “Tha Doggfather,” debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 Albums chart. “Tha Doggfather” was his last release for Death Row before he signed with No Limit Records, where he recorded three albums from 1998 to 2001.

His first No Limit album, “Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be Told” was released in 1998 and deb uted #1 on the Billboard 200 Album chart and was certified double platinum later that year. “No Limit Top Dogg” followed in 1999 featuring the hit single, “Bitch Please” featuring Xzibit and Nate Dogg, produced by Dr. Dre. The album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200. “The Last Meal” was released in 2000. The album included the singles “Snoop Dogg (What's My Name Pt. 2)” and “Wrong Idea” featuring Bad Azz. It peaked at #4 on the Billboard 200.

Snoop then signed with Priority/Capitol/EMI Records in 2002, which released his album, “Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss,” that same year. The album has been certified platinum by the RIAA and reached #4 on the Billboard 200.

Snoop then signed with Geffen Records in 2004 for his next three albums, the first of which was 2004’s “R&G (Rhythm & Gangsta): The Masterpiece.” The album featured production by The Neptunes. It was certified platinum by the RIAA. “Drop It Like It's Hot” the album’s single featuring Pharrell was a Billboard Hot 100 #1 hit, making it Snoop Dogg's first #1 single on the chart. The song also gave him his first #1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. It was nominated at the Grammy Awards of 2005 for Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.

“Tha Blue Carpet Treatment” was released in 2006 on Geffen Records. The album debuted at #5 on the Billboard 200. The album was certified Platinum. 2008’s “Ego Trippin'“debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart.

He released “Malice n Wonderland” in 2009 on Doggy Style/Priority/EMI Records. The first single from the album, “Gangsta Luv,” featuring The-Dream, peaked at #35 on the Billboard Hot 100. The album debuted at #23 on the Billboard 200.

“Doggumentary,” his 11th studio album, was released by Priority Records in 2011. The album debuted at #8 on the Billboard 200. In 2012, after a trip to Jamaica, Snoop announced a conversion to the Rastafari movement and a new alias, Snoop Lion. Under the new moniker, he released a reggae album, “Reincarnated,” and a documentary film of the same name, of his Jamaican experience, in early 2013.

Nirvana Nirvana was an American rock band formed by singer/guitarist Kurt Cobain and bassist Krist Novoselic in Aberdeen, Washington in 1987. Since its debut, the band has sold over 25 million records in the United States alone, and over 75 million records worldwide, making them one of the best-selling music artists in history. Four of their albums, two studio and two live, have reached the number one spot on the Billboard 200 chart. In the years since the band's breakup, Nirvana has been ranked highly on several lists by various publications as one of the greatest artists of all time.Rolling Stone described Nirvana's influence as having "kicked in" the 1990s as a musical era, adding that their music "guaranteed the nineties would not suck," and claimed that the band "transformed rock for a generation." According to the magazine, "few bands in rock history have had a more immediate and tangible impact on their contemporary pop musical landscape than Nirvana did in the early Nineties." In 2013, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame announced Nirvana as a nominee for inclusion, in the band's first year of eligibility; the museum's biography of the band states that Nirvana "start[ed] a rock revolution" and "remain an enduring influence and challenge", before declaring them "proof that the right band with the right noise can change the world."
