The Introduction of the notion

I'm going to present the notion of the voice of the writer playing with words under the topic of the autobiography.

An autobiography is a novel where the principal character and the author as the same person and who the author explains his life.

We may wonder how the past events have consequence in the present ?

In class, we studied 2 documents, one extract from the novel entitled Why the Caged Bird Sings written by Maya Angelou, published in 1969 and another extract from An Unauthorized Autobiography of me by Sherman Alexie published in 2000.

As a personnal document, I have chosen Twelve Years a Slave, this is the movie adaptation of Solomon Northup's autobiography twelve years a slavery.

Plan / During the course of the 15th-19th, many people suffer from slavery. How black slavery has consequences for the present ? In a first part, I will speak about the black slavery and in a second part I talk about the consequence and prejudices in the present.

I in the past many events against Black people are produced, mainly as slaves. Indeed during the course of the 15th-19th century, many Africans were mainly subjected and enslaved by Europeans in search of labor for hard work. Moreover the works were extremely difficult physically and the conditions proved miserable because for this entreprise to be profitable, the labor force did not have to be feed him, beat him, mutilate or even kill him. We can see an example of that in the movie Twelve years a slave the adaptation of the autobiography of Solomon Northup, where the slaves are beaten if they do not harvest the right amount of cotton. One of the young slaves finds herself even raped and beaten many times by her master. Fortunately nowadays slavery is stopping, but many people remain victims of racism following the many prejudices.

II Because of these past acts, many black people are discriminate and victims of racism like Maria Angelou who tells how in her book that I know why the Caged Bird Sings published in 1969 he was refused a post because of his skin color and his origins. Discrimination is mainly due to their slave past and they do not have the same culture as white people.

Conclusion/ In conclusion we can say that the slavery of the black has had a lot of consequence on the present like the prejudices or the racism.
