Notion: Idea of progress

Intro:

The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change - a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place.

So we are going to develop the importance of technology in our daily life

Firstly we shall see the different forms of technological progress and the impact on living conditions, and on personal and social relationship, then we shall study those who chose a “simple life” and we shall finish with my opinion about this notion.

I-The different forms of technological progress and the impact on daily life

We are going to study two technologies which became daily have entered everyday life: the computer and the mobile.

The first computer was created to facilitate  calculations. It fast became an essential and very useful device.

Nowadays, in France,nearly one out of three families has several computers. Thereby, everybody uses it to  look for information, to watch films, or to play video-games… However, this wonderful device can become dangerous with the  social network for example. We have seen a document who illustrate the dangerous information collect by facebook about the utilisateur, all his life is know in the Net. Moreover some people can become addict to computers and that is dangerous because these persons can move away from  their families or friends until the isolation.

Now, cellphones are considerate like small computeur, and they  have a lot of activities (take photos, play games, surf the net)  other than  phoning. This device becomes also an addiction, because we use  it all the time, often for nothing, just to pass the time. In fact, we have read a extract of comic strip who show the relationships change because we can make “virtual” friends, and there are less real conversations.

II-Certain people chose a « simple » life

Recently, days "anti-technology" are organized so that of people realize their addictions to the technology. These is the day “no-facebook” for example.

However, often  citizen who  used to live without technologies, feel they   need not to use the computer or mobile, it doesn’t interest them, or they have aware of the dangerous of the technology. We have see in a document, from a baby we are in contact with the bad waves of the phone for example.

III- My opinion + Conclusion

This notion is interesting because those are topical subjects and I feel concerned. 

I thing we dealt with the subject the most interesting of this notion.

To conclude, digital technologies are omnipresent, they are entertaining but also essential with the multiple functions.
