Abraham Lincoln

-Biography

I choose to present Abraham Lincoln, he was an american lawyer and president.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12th in one thousand eight hundred nine in Kentucky and he died in April 15th in eighteen-sixtyfive in Washington.

He married with mary todd lincoln and he had 4 children, robert, tad, william and edward lincoln.

Abraham Lincoln was the sixteennth President of the United States and he was the first Republican president in the history of the country.

He was famous because he called for the abolition of slavery in the U.S.A.

He was elected for four-year twice, in eighteen-sixty and in eighteen-sixtyfour without completing.

He was assassinated as a result of a plot originating from Confederate partisans at the beginning of his second term.

His name is associated with the Civil War and the abolition of slavery.

-Civil War

In this war, it was the Union States against Confederate States.

This war was to abolish the slavery.Northern General Ulysses Grant was the commander of Lincoln’s Army.

uniforme :

_ the uniform to Yankee was a dark blue kepi, a dark blue jacket and sky blue pants. From there came the nickname of the soldiers of the North: «Blue coats ».

_the uniform to Confederate States was a grey and sky blue jacket, a sky blue kepi, and sky blue pants.

After the victory of the Union States army, Abraham promulgated the emancipation proclamation that abolished slavery.

-Exemple d’une grande bataille

The Battle of Gettysburg took place from 1 to 3 July 1863 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, during the Civil War.

This battle was the heaviest of the wars in terms of casualties. This battle ended with the defeat of the Southerners who left the ground to the Northerners

It is considered the main turning point of the war.

-The Memory of Abraham Lincoln

A statue of the sixteenth President of the United States was installed at the Lincoln Memorial in Washington in May 1922. On the wall under the statue it says :

"IN THIS TEMPLE AS IN THE HEARTS OF THE PEOPLE FOR WHOM HE SAVED THE UNION THE MEMORY OF ABRAHAM LINCOLN IS ENSHRINED FOREVER "
