Australia

Australia is a great country to visit if you enjoy culture. Located between the Indian and the Pacific Ocean, Australia was discovered by the Dutch. Claim ed for Great Britain in 1770, this country still has a truly European heritage. This close link is notable on the currently flag of Australia because there is the Union Flag on it. In fact, Australia is a hug country. It is impossible to discover everything in one trip, but it is not a main problem. As Australia is a wonderful country, you will fall in love with it. Back to France, you will only waiting for your next travel there.

Big cities

Australia is a country where you can visit big cities. Sydney, Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane are the most famous in terms of attracting tourists.

Sydney is the Australia’s oldest and largest city. This city has the enviable reputation for being one of the most beautiful and liveable cities of the world. You should visit in the rocks district the first colonial village and the beautiful Harbor Bridge. You can walk or cycle across, picnic under or climb over this bridge. The Sydney Opera House is one of the emblematic monuments of the country. While your discovering of this city, you must go at Darling Harbour, which have numerous restaurants, museums and shopping facilities. You will also see other hotspot of Sydney: Sydney Tower, Saint Mary’s Cathedral, the Australian museum or the Art Gallery. The area of “la Perouse” is very interesting because of its French heritage. There are a fort and a museum there.

Perth is a city, which has a big influence by its colonial past and its formers aboriginal inhabitants. There is plenty to see in the city center such as the Perth Cultural Center, which includes the Art Gallery of Western Australia, the Western Australian Museum, the Alexander Library, the State Records office and the Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts. You really have to go to the city of Freemantle, which is part of Perth. This city is well known for its convict-built. It is a sort of jail for the British inmates who have to spend their sentence in Australia. There are also a big harbour and a maritime museum.

Melbourne is the second largest city of Australia but it is the Australia’s cultural capital so you have to go there. In the city center, there are very interesting places to discover including theatres, art galleries and plenty of live music. You will see that Melbourne has a notable Victorian architecture style. You can go to Flinders Street Railway Station, a colonial-era railway station famous for its several clocks in the main entrance. Docklands is a very trendy place to spend time after your visits. The Parliament House of Victoria, the immigration museum, the federation Square and the Queen Victoria Mark are also great sites for your cultural holidays to understand the Australian history. The docks have been transformed in bars, shops, nightclubs and restaurants. It is great to go to this place because there is an amazing panoramic view.

Last but not least, Brisbane, the third largest city of Australia is also a city which definitely worth a visit. You will appreciate the urban aspect of this city. There is a big business district with many skyscrapers. You can go and see the Brisbane City Hall, which is a significant historical landmark.
