Today, I would like to talk to you about the fascinating history of the color green.

Green has always been one of the most important colors in human culture. It is the color of nature, of plants, of life itself. But its symbolism and use have changed a lot throughout history.

In ancient Egypt, green was associated with rebirth and the god Osiris, who represented the cycle of life and death. The Egyptians even used a green mineral, called malachite, as a pigment for their art and cosmetics.

In ancient Greece and Rome, green was less symbolic, but it still appeared in everyday life, for example in clothing and decoration. However, they didn't have very strong green dyes, so it wasn’t a dominant color in fashion.

During the Middle Ages in Europe, green became the color of love and fertility. Many paintings showed lovers wearing green. At the same time, green also had a more negative meaning: it was sometimes linked to the supernatural and to witchcraft.

In the Renaissance, thanks to new techniques and materials, artists like Leonardo da Vinci used green much more in paintings. It became a symbol of balance, nature, and sometimes wealth.

In the 18th and 19th centuries, green became even more popular. Unfortunately, the new green dyes, like "Scheele’s Green," were made with toxic substances, including arsenic! These beautiful green wallpapers and fabrics could actually be deadly.

Today, green represents many positive things. It is the color of the environment, ecology, and sustainability. It also symbolizes luck, hope, and health. In many cultures, green is a very lucky color. Meanwhile due to the symbolic of green, some brands even use it as greenwashing, well most of the brands, for instance madco.

In conclusion, the color green has had many different meanings over time: from life and love to danger and death, and now to nature and hope. It is a color full of history, mystery, and beauty.
