The Idea of Progress

I'm going to talk about the notion “The Idea of Progress”, first, I would like to give a definition of this notion: the progress is the action to go forwards, to increase, to be better.

For a society or for a humanity, the progress is the evolution in the sense of an improvement, its A progressive transformation towards more knowledge and happiness.

To approach the notion of progress, I have DECIDED  to treat the subject of sustainability.

My question is: Why and how should we preserve the resources of our planet?

But first of all I would like define what is the sustainability: the concept of "sustainability" means different things to different people. It is an idea which was brought about in 1992 at the "Earth Summit" conference. It makes sure that we have and will continue to have the water, materials, and resources to protect human health and our environment.

I would like to cut my question in two parts, "Why should we preserve the resources of our planet?" and "How should we preserve the resources of our planet?"

With all the constant talk of 'saving the planet' and stopping global warming, should we actually try to stop it. Also, we should think about future generations on Earth and how it would effect our future.

We should try to stop global warming because people have shaped the earth in a pattern since we've evolved. People now think that technology solves all our problems and we take nature for granted.

To illustrate this, I think OF two documents that we saw in class: the first talks about the pollution in China. In China the water is polluted. Millions of Chinese live with water and sky polluted. Water is polluted because of waste, the Chinese flow into rivers and seas the wastes. The Chinese government is not doing enough to prevent the spread of pollution which represents a bad type of progress. In my opinion, the government should act more on pollution in order for the environment to progress in a good way.

On the other hand, the second document talks about the pollution in London: pollution isn't  because of cars and industry, United Kingdom sought to overcome this pollution with various means, which leads us to ask the question of "How should we preserve the resources of our planet?" **this type of action represents a good type of progress.

To keep the London example (in the UK), and with my knowledge, I can say that London takes measures to reduce pollution, the government encourages people to use public transport instead of cars, and then, when the night fell, there are trucks which lead: these trucks disperse an adhesive solution made based on calcium, which is expected to attract ground fine particles emitted by vehicles. The sidewalks are cleaned with water jets that carry the particles into the sewers.

Of course, London isn't the only who found solutions for environment: for example, France sets up a time change which aims to reduce the consumption of electricity, France sets also up the alternate driving days when the pollution is very high.

To conclude, we can say that the pollution is omnipresent all around the world and nations should try to overcome it with a
