American newspapers

Introduction

Newspapers are the traditional support of information so I will introduce some American newspapers. There are two types of logs: national newspapers and local newspapers. There are only two national newspapers while each state has one or more newspapers. So regional newspapers outnumber newspapers at the federal level.

I/ National newspapers.

Only two national newspapers.

• USA Today: Founded by Allen Neuharth as an alternative newspaper, it was launched in 1982. Sometimes called "the CNN of the press", it stands out for quality items, sometimes ahead of major newspapers. It is probably the best to understand the current issues of interest to Americans.

• Wall Street Journal: the WSJ is especially appreciated for his analysis of financial markets and trending of business and management. But since its acquisition in July 2007, the News Corp.. Rupert Murdoch, the newspaper is gradually moving towards a more generalist. The goal: compete with The New York Times. Now, more space is given to international news and politics. Located in the financial district of New York since its creation in 1889, the writing remained there despite the damage suffered during the attacks of 11 September 2001 and a few months of exile in New Jersey. Murdoch is ready to make the project move. It obtained 33 Awarded Pulitzer Prize.

II/ Regional newspapers

• The New York Times: With more than 1,000 reporters, its 29 overseas offices and 80 Pulitzer Prize, the New York Times is clearly the largest U.S. newspaper. Its slogan "all the news that's fit to print" is displayed on the A since 1897. This is "the" newspaper of record in the United States, including with national television that tend to consider as valid only information from the moment it has already been published in the New York Times. It is also the only newspaper with Sunday supplement (1.7 million copies) is distributed throughout the country. Its literary supplement, the New York Times Book Review, has an excellent reputation and its magazine, The New York Times Magazine, is unparalleled. • Washington Post: Considered as one of the most influential American newspapers with his rival The New York Times, The Washington Post, founded in 1877, is the main and oldest newspaper of the federal capital. Estimated for the simplicity and rigor of its information and coverage of international news, the Post distinguished by monitoring the workings of American institutions.
