First of all I would like to give a definition of «Power». It’s the ability or official capacity to exercise control or authority over others. It can be a person, a group, or a nation having great influence over people. Power is exercised through a variety of relationships sustained or accepted, often internalized. We can ask if we can say that we have reached true equality between men and women. First we shall see whom the women are to revolt and secondly we shall work on what women are in the day of today.

First, in the past women stayed at home. On the one hand they looked after the children on the other hand they did the chores. They were housewives. When they worked in companies they didn’t have the same work as men. They didn’t have the same wages. Those were very low. Consequently, they went on strike and they demonstrated for equal pay and women’s rights

As we can see in the movie “Made in Dagenham ", Rita creates strikes because she wants equality between men and women.

Moreover, women have fewer opportunities than men on the labour market. In addition, it’s more difficult for women to be at the top position as men do. For the same jobs, men are better paid than women, it’s named the “gender paid gap”. There is also “the glass ceiling” an invisible barrier that prevents women from achieving career success. What’s more, the firms hire more men than women, because there are the maternity leaves. But, there are quotas, yet they are low and lot of companies don’t respect them.

We can see that women’s salaries are higher and higher. Yet, they remain lower than men’s.

To conclude, women have had more rights than before, on my own I don’t think our modern world has become totally egalitarian as far as men and women are concerned. Finally, there are many problems like the gender gap, the glass ceiling or sexual harassment at work.
