I’m going to speak about the notion idea of progress. Progress includes several questions: social, technological, artistic or domestic. To illustrate this notion, we can see the progress in India. There are a little over a billion people. It is a country where there are different traditions. Over the last twenty years we witnessed several changes. We can wonder how India became a country on the march. For that, we will see at first the traditional India and in the second part we will see the progress of India, a modern country.

A) There are inequalities between men and women.

We see traditions as in a document audio intituled « Indie’s girls go missing ». We learn that male dominated society and there are twice as many men than women. When the women are pregnant, she aborts if it’s a girl even if it’s forbidden by the law, baby girls are killed because they are a burden. Moreover, always in the document audio, villagers admit that the indian society keeps the dowry tradition because it explains why boys are financially more attractive than girls. The farms have given way to factories, the couples can divorce, untouchables children can go to school the food habits had changed,… The main change is people's mentalities. Now they can decide for themselves. We can see too according to the journalist, indians are in a new state of mind and they are confident and hopeful. There are news type of families. In the text « Blending families », we can see that changing from traditional family model to a breaking family model to new family types: it’s called blended family.Over the last century, male-dominated societies have been challenged and women have become emancipated, financially and sexually. As a consequence, values have been redefined and new family structures have emerged; single parenthood, recognition of same-sex parents, remarriage and blended families.

To conclude, India is now a « country on the march », now becoming « booming » thanks to it. It’s no longer a subcontinent. Many people are now billionaires
