Has the option of online studies decreased the value of face-to-face learning?

2020, the weirdest year my generation has lived. The COVID 19, repeated lockdowns and

distance learning schools have marked our daily life for more than a year.

Online school is an option student can choose if they can’t go to face-to-face schools. The online

school option has become more and more used because of COVID and the conveniency it

brought. However, what are the consequences for the students?

Thus, at the beginning of the global pandemic, most students were happy to have a break from

schools and thought online school was going to be better. Months have passed, and they

discovered all the drawbacks. Face-to-face school cannot be replaced.  

School can be hard and stressful. With online classes, we have more sleep, and we can study

from home. Moreover, we feel free to do something else

while we have class if we are not interested in the subject. It is way more convenient and

flexible. We can work at our own pace.

However online school has ton of negative points. Even if we can skip the classes we want,

this is obviously not the best way to learn and graduate at the end of the year. The second

problem is that even if we pay attention, it is hard to stay focused more than 20 minutes in a

row in front of our laptops. We may often be distracted. We also can’t socialize with our

classmates, which is less challenging. Furthermore, we don’t have peer pressure, so we are

less motivated.

Face-to-face learning is the most efficient way to learn. We can directly interact.

We have immediate answers to all our questions. We also have a direct feedback which is

crucial to improve ourselves. School is the first step into real

life. Going there teaches us how to respect discipline and rules which are vital in real

situations and at work.

All things considered, online studies contents are as rich as face-to-face ones. What changes is

the way we work with them which may make it less qualitative. This is the reason why

COVID 19 has affected so many students’ lives.
