Nature is essential to our survival: it allows us to breathe, to feed ourselves and without anything in return. Despite this we have been able to observe in recent years a gradual disappearance of nature for which Human being seems to be responsible. We can ask if this nature is made to coexist with our needs. Despite some think that growth should be privileged over nature, can we not reconcile the two.

It’s worth to mention that according to many studies, we see that nature is not a brake on the economy on the contrary nature is responsible for broad range of economy. However, some politicians think the opposite and want to reduce spending for the economy without understanding that they are running to their losses. Indeed, nature allows many economic advantages? For example, wildlife in the forests represents 50% of the American pharmaceutical market which would lead to a considerable increase in already high public health costs. We could also mention all the animals benefiting agriculture, pollinating bees and the marine ecosystem. All these species represent considerable savings in favor of the GDP.

However, to prevent nature from being degraded by human actions, governments would first need to modify their policies. The problem is, it's all about the money. However, according to various studies, in the short term it makes more economic sense to continue to degrade the environment to preserve it. If politicians do not quickly change their pockets to conserve both nature and the economy for the long term, our children are paying a heavy price. Fortunately, some companies like Nestlé and some countries like Guyana have realized the importance of preserving nature and are changing their policies.

As a conclusion we can say that nature goes hand in hand with the economy and allows its growth over the long term. As far as I am concerned I think it is necessary for politicians to quickly realize the situation and change their policy for a better future. Humanity is leading itself to its destruction.
