WOMEN'S RIGHTS

What would you do if you could not vote, not earn the same amount of money as your co-worker for the same job, or not even get a proper education? How would you feel? Maybe inexistant in this man's world? Maybe worthless?

Now, you should know that for many years, women tried to change this world that we live in, to make a better one where everyone is treated the same. Unfortunately, it is not the case nowadays. It has never been the case.

As we live in a wealthy country, you might never realise the inegalities between men and women, or perhaps you chose to ignore them. Maybe because it is easier to turn a blind eye to the imabalence between the two genders. To help you notice them, I will give you some statistics from ILOSTAT. These datas use the gender pay gap which is a metric that tells us the difference in pay between men and women in 2016. In South Korea, there is a difference of 33,59% between average earnings of men and women. As for France, there is a difference of 15,5%. Those datas scream injustice and unfairless.

With the fourth-wave feminism also called cyberfeminism and networked feminism, mobilised people to take action against sexism, misogyny or gender-based violence against women. One example is the online movement #metoo in 2017 which was a response on social networks from women all over the world to the case of Harvey Weinstein, a Hollywood producer who was accused of sexually harrassing female staff in the movie industry.

Nowadays even artists fight with us for women's rights as there are a lot of music and movies tackling the subject, like Woman's world by Little mix and Made in Dagenham by Nigel Cole.

This shows that if we are combined together, we can make huge things happen.

We have to continue to revolutionize the society so that we, women, will be equals with men. This might be the fight of the century.
