Speech for the Olympic Games in Africa

Ladies and gentlemen, it’s a great honour for me today to be able to express myself during this important assembly for the organization of the next Olympic Games. And I would like to take advantage of the audience I can reach to honor the countries of Africa by giving them the opportunity to host the next Olympic Games. I am thinking in particular of a country in which sport is an integral part of national culture and which has trained great athletes, including some Olympic medallists. I am of course talking about the Kenya. This country where famous sportsmen and sportswomen are from, such as Eliud Kipchoge and Brigid Kosgei who both set marathon records. Indeed Kenya is symbol of running and therefore it is entirely legitimate that it could be the first African country to host these games. I think it would be time to value Africa, which is a little put aside, this will allow sports fans to support their favorite athletes within their own country and in my opinion it is a great chance for those who can’t afford to travel abroad to see these games.

Now I would like to talk about the many benefits these games will bring to Kenya and Africa. First of all this huge sport event will unite everyone in order to highlight the feeling of the togetherness during the trials. Then it will encourage all the people who couldn’t practice sports because of their disabilities to discover alternatives to practice a sport and restore their self-confidence. In addition in some African countries women are not allowed to participate in sports because of the male domination, and I think that these Olympic Games can gradually change attitudes and give hope to these women. Lastly I wish to say a word about the economic aspect of this event. According to me, this is a huge occasion to revive the country’s economy through tourism and organizers' spending, trust me it will be very beneficial for the Kenya and it will reduce poverty.
