From a weapon of mass destruction to a means of economic pressure, nuclear weapons occupy the leaders of today's world through many conflicts. It all began with the Manhattan Project in 1945. A project
who gathered the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom to create the "super weapon". After having created it, the nuclear weapon is used by the Americans on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, in Japan. The number of people killed by the explosion is difficult to determine and only estimates are available. An estimated 250,000 dead! it is after that that the Second World War ends with the capitulation of Japan. Following the dramatic repercussions of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the world was aware of the danger of using nuclear power. Many countries, such as France, China or North Korea, they want to acquire this weapon. This is mainly due to the fact that possessing nuclear power represents a big economic advantage. Therefore, many countries use this weapon to threaten because indeed, this weapon allows a nation to call itself "powerful" , it is thus a source of deterrence. A deterrence that first appears through the Dulles doctrine which is the American nuclear doctrine. It exposes the USSR to an immediate response in the event of an attack on a NATO member country. But it was especially during the cold war, during the Cuban Crisis, that nuclear power was clearly used to threaten. Originally Cuba was allied with the US, but the coming to power of the communist Fidel Castro, changes the deal. In 1958, the Soviets installed missiles in Cuba, which were subsequently discovered by American planes. Faced with this, Kennedy, the American leader at the time, declared himself ready to use nuclear weapons while opening the door to negotiations. The world is under the spell of a possible nuclear disaster. Finally, an agreement between the two big ones is found and the worst is avoided. But Cuba will forever be one of the symbols of the Cold War. Until today, nuclear weapons occupy many presidents through multiple conflicts. Among these conflicts, we find the case of the Iranian nuclear power that has animated the world for many years. Iran's nuclear problems began in 2002, when the program was launched in 1950. Iranians were suspicious of acquiring a weapon of mass destruction. As a signatory to the NPT, Iran has the right to acquire only civilian nuclear power, provided it accepts IAEA oversight. However this is denied by the Islamic state, thus being suspicious of developing military nuclear. Indeed, they were not wrong, Iran does have a military nuclear program discovered by Westerners. As a result, Iran will suffer economic sanctions. These sanctions will weigh heavily on Iran, which will see its economy be affected accelerating inflation due to the fall of the rial of more than 60% since 2011. Hence the change of nuclear form with its use to threaten economically .
