Luxury Brand Presentation :

        Ralph Lauren’s Corporation is an American holding company headquartered in New York City. The company, through its subsidiaries, designs, markets and sells luxury men's, women's and children's apparel, accessories, fragrances and home furnishings to customers worldwide. Ralph Lauren’s Corporation began with the 1967 founding of the Polo Ralph Lauren.

Now, we will speak about the man who created this society and after, we will speak about the history of Ralph Lauren and his evolution.

Ralph Lauren is a contractor and an American stylist, founder of the homonymous brand; it is also a symbol of the preppy style. Ralph Lauren was born in the Bronx in New-York, of immigrated parents of Russia in 1939. From an early age, Ralph began to work after the school to be sold himself of elegant and expensive dress up. Ralph is schooled in the DeWitt Clinton High School, in the Bronx. At the age of sixteen, Ralph and his older brother Jerry change their surname Lifshitz in Lauren. Ralph judged it necessary for his success.

        He studied management in City College of New York, which he left two years later, without a degree. From 1962 until 1964, he serves in the American Army. In his return to civilian life, he gets married to Ricky Low-Beer. He goes to make various casual jobs. Fascinated by mode, he becomes a seller in various shops. He starts working at Brooks Brothers as a seller after. His ideas of new forms and colours weren’t regarded, he then decided to create a collection of ties, very wide and in stripes; it’s the beginning of Ralph Lauren.

        In 1967, Ralph Lauren borrows 50 000 dollars to Norman Hilton which allows him to open a shop of ties where he sells in particular his own brand named Polo. One year later, he develops his society in the sale of shirts and other clothes for man.

        In 1970, Ralph Lauren wins the City Award for the creation of a line of clothing for men for Andrew McLean. During this period, he created, at the request of his wife, a line for the women’s cut in a male style. This line sees for the first time the emblem of the brand : the polo’s rider player.

        In 1972, he spreads his famous short-sleeved polos taken out in more than 24 colours. Polos soon become a classic.

        During 1980s, he starts producing accessories for the house, to diversify the range of products of his company.

        Later during the 1990s, the line Polo Sport was created with which had a big success. In 1997, the Ralph Lauren mark launches an IPO, in New York Stock Exchange, with for symbol RL.

        In 2007, Ralph Lauren has 35 shops in the United States and more 20 000 employees in 2014.

        In 2014, the company counts more than 300 shops in 80 countries, weighs 13 billion dollars in stock exchange and generates 6.9 billion dollars of turnover.

        Ralph Lauren has many competitors, the biggest are: Pvh Corp/Calvin Klein/Burberry Group PLC, and many more, there are many competitors everywhere in the world.

        So, we can say that his company is a success. In fact, in 2010, Ralph Lauren’s fortune was considered at 4.6 billion dollars and in 2009, in 2.8 billion dollars. Moreover, in 2012, his personal fortune is considered 7,5 billion dollars, which classifies him as the 122nd richest person in world. Even in time of crisis, his company continues to attract profits. Finally, we can add that Ralph Lauren is also known to be an automobile collector of sport and luxury : Bugatti/Ferrari/Jaguar… We can suppose that his company will keep evolving in the future.
