NEWSPAPER ARTICLE WRITING
Lesson 1
Along with Shakespeare, we will be learning about and writing ‘Hard News’ newspaper articles. We will start by watching some videos on YouTube that introduced the components of a NEWSPAPER ARTICLE. Please review them yourself again if you miss something, or if we don’t have enough time in class. In this lesson, the videos will focus on the form/structure then focus on Headline and Lead.
Writing a news story is not an easy format to master, but it is important for practicing different forms of grammar and increasing your ability to decode these kinds of texts. During the second trimester, you will be writing a news article (C3), and many of these same elements will reappear in later in the year for the Ministry exam in secondary 5.
