What is it like to live in Glasgow ? It is expensive to live there ? Is There a Starbucks coffee in Glasgow ?.... A lot of questions popped up when we talk about moving to a new city.

As Scotland’s largest and most diverse city, you’ll always find something to do, and the city’s friendly atmosphere will make you feel at home. If you’ve never heard Glaswegian before, you’re in for a treat even if you are a native English speaker.

As a newcomer perspective's, there is a lot of facilities for the everyday life : University (University of Glasgow), museum, library, hotel, shopping centers (princess square), Starbucks... All we need to live a happy life. It is very easy to move into to city with the subway and bus that drive you everywhere in the city.

When you move into the city, between the “red and blond” building (tenements), you’ll always see a lot of shops, and you’ll always find a way to a pub (bars).

There you can find some typical dishes eaten like : Haggis with neeps and tatties, Cullen skink, Kedgeree... but you will also find some of your favorites fast-foods.

The city is very lively at night and is dazzling between the echo of chant in the Pub and the philharmonic orchestra music. The city is in fact hail as the UNESCO City of Music thanks to weekly music events ; events with orchestras, ensembles and bands : Scottish Opera, Scottish Ballet, Royal Scottish National Orchestra, BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra...

Glasgow's climate is classified as oceanic, but it is colder in opposition to Paris with a daily mean temperature of 9.6 °C (year base statistics). Winter especially in December is very special when there are only 30 hours of sun in mean during the month.

The price of living there is very acceptable as local “offer” low price for the everyday needs. The housingscost is also affordable for students : 1-bedroom flat in the center of the city : £450+/ outside center of the city : £350+.

Glasgow is a true city of sport. You can enjoy a range of sports from football, rugby, ice hockey, basketball to swimming (It hosted the 2014 Commonwealth Games). And you can even go outside the city to see Scottish sporting tradition at its best at the Highland games event.

To conclude, we say that the city, is very attractive for its cultural aspect and its comfortable atmosphere, you will bring back at home a lot of memories of the landscape and your favorite sport jerseys, but we advise you to stay at your Airbnb during the Celtic and Ranger sport event as the night get dangerous.
