Barcelone is the administrative and economic capital of Catalonia. it’s also the second largest city in Spain in terms of population, economy and activities and the eleventh largest city in the European Union . It located on the Mediterranean coast.

First of all, i will talk about the architecture at the 1st half of the 20th century that is totally different than today. And i will talk about the Casa Batlló.

it is a modernist building designed by the architect Antoni Gaudí from 1904 to 1906.

Antoni Gaudi is a famous Catalan architect of Spanish nationality and principal representative of Catalan modernism.

This art is based on the observation of nature, as well as the use of regulated geometric surfaces. His achievements have no right angles, and are undulating and asymmetrical.

The most famous part of the building is the facade, considered as one of the most original of the architect, who used stone, wrought iron, glass trencadis and polychrome ceramics

This building was built in a context where Spain had many economic problems following the loss of these colonies

this avenue the main residential center of the upper class and fashion Barcelona. It is from this context that Casa Batllo was built.

the harbor was built as its name suggests for the Olympic Games (OG) of Barcelona in 1992 by the architect Oriol Bohigas.

It has replaced many industrial wastelands that were located by the sea, and it faces the former Olympic Village, now residential area (Il a remplacé de nombreuses friches industrielles qui se trouvaient en bord de mer, et il fait face à l'ancien village olympique, aujourd'hui quartier résidentiel)

it is now an upscale marina

we can see that the architecture its different between this two edifices.
