Idea of progress bac oral anglais

I am going to talk about the idea of progress. The idea of progress can be defined as an improvement, a development or a change. It can be a technical, scientific or social advance which contributes to making the world a better place. To illustrate my notion, I will talk about the medical progress.

Problematic: Do you think that medical progress is as positive as we can imagine?

Firstly, medical progress has allowed man to live longer and fight some disease through discoveries such as penicillin that we studied in a video presented by the BBC and in which he explains the importance penicillin for man and this discovery is an indispensable weapon of protection. Medical progress has also helped to cure Ebola.

However the medical progress can be against the human principles and which can dehumanize us as to modify ageing process, DNA, this is frightening, we studied a picture in progress in which our brain can be connected by a memory stick which can represent our DNA, all this poses ethic issues, more and more scientist tries to create a human, the cloning that can lead to the sale of humans and organs, it wipes all identity and creates impersonal and dehumanized people who are all similar to each other, they are risks a genetic selection into the population.

Finally, I will talk about traditional medicine that is increasingly used in Western countries, the nature brings many benefits to the man, and they are remedies that allow in the daily life to feel better and to have a healthy body, there is also the meditation which is a kind of treatment like to decrease the hypertension.

To conclude, we can say that medical progress can be helpful for prevent and cure many diseases, but it raises many ethical issues. So we need to be very careful and create rules for limit the danger.
